THE MAGIC OF THE VILLAGE
ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Storms River Tin House at 56 Darnell Street is located in the heart of Storms River Village, just a short stroll to the CBD area where you’ll find a small grocery store, restaurants, booking and information centres, and a huge variety of adventure activities.

Storms River Village is the adventure capital of Tsitsikamma – whether you are in need of a laid-back get-away during which time-out for lazy strolls through natural forest trails is all that’s needed to refuel, or whether you need to release adrenaline with adventure-filled activities – you will create memories to remember forever. The Village, which forms part of South Africa’s famous Garden Route, is situated 60km east of Plettenberg Bay and 170km west of Port Elizabeth.

Tsitsikamma

Tsitsikamma is a Khoi word meaning “place of abundant or sparkling water”. The area is covered in large tracts of indigenous forest, commercial plantation, and fynbos. Deep river gorges cleft the plateau as they make their way down to the sea at Storms River Mouth.

Testimonials

It was a really great stay at Watty’s place! We would recommend staying there for three up to four days because it’s such a great location and there are so many things to do. We really felt welcome and the accommodation was really comfortable.

Experience the way of life in a luxury ‘Town Ship’ type build. Centrally located in Storms River, close to Tsitsikamma National Park, Nature’s Valley. There are a lot of activities a few steps from Tin House. Segway tours, horse riding, Mountain bikes etc… Watty will make your stay nice and easy.

Corinne and Paul – France

There are no words to describe the instant feeling of welcome that Watty exudes. He and his wife are the kindest most generous people and their Tin House is spacious and filled with caring, cute and fun details from the gorgeous fresh flowers over the luxurious linens to the beer and wine. We could easily have stayed for months and been happy. The selection of books made the indoor day fly by and the great tips, chats and interactions with Watty, his wife and even the friendly dogs made us feel right at home. We were truly sad to leave.

We enjoyed our stay at Watty’s, a great place to stay when discovering the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park. Although the village is small, there are still a couple of restaurants and cafés. The cabin is spacious, cozy, and equipped with everything one could need. Communication, check-in and check-out were very easy since Watty lives next door and is helpful at all times. Would definitely recommend it.

Miriam and Dominic – Switzerland

We loved staying at the Tin House. Watty and his wife are great hosts. The house in perfectly located: only 5 km away from Tsitsikamma Park and walking distance from restaurants and the grocery store. The house is really comfortable, though the bathroom can be quite chilly at night time. The garden is lovely, the dogs are friendly, and the hosts extraordinary!!! We would definitely come back to Watty’s tin house!!!

Denise and Christian – Argentina

Our stay at the Tin House was great. A lot of space and everything you’ll need were provided. Watty and his wife are amazing hosts, they took good care of us. The friendly dogs were excited to see us, but are not allowed in the tin house. Great place, also recommended for longer stays. We will come again the next time to South Africa.

It is a really nice house in a beautiful area. The house has a nice garden where you can BBQ. It is really close to some restaurants and the house itself is also nice to stay a few days!

Very well located, perfect spot to experience Storms River Village and not far from other attractions like the Storms River section of the Garden Route SANpark. The host and his wife are great, friendly, and helpful but not to the point of getting in your way.

Renata and Tiago – Brazil

The accommodation was on our way along the Garden Route. We, unfortunately, did not meet Watty personally, but we were warmly welcomed by his wife. The accommodation is very special. A lot of craftsmanship has been put into it and it has lovely details. As it was quite cool in the evening, there was a mobile radiator. The bedroom can be heated very well; there is a solid radiator available. We would stay there again and recommend it with 5 stars!

Michelle and Danny – Germany

The house is stylish and different, very spacious and with a unique decoration. We loved the contact with Watty and his wife, a pity we did not have more time in the city. Really cool, unique space just minutes from Storms River Mouth and a short walk to restaurants, cafes, and the Tsitsikamma Brewery. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook, a HUGE bathroom, and really comfy bed. Enjoyed watching Netflix on the couch next to the wood-burning stove after a long day of hiking at the park. Watty is a fantastic host and made us feel at home. Would definitely stay at this gem in the future!

In Watty’s accommodation, we liked it very much. The cottage is very special, nicely decorated and with everything you need. The bed is very cosy. We especially liked the well-kept outdoor area. One has a small garden with a barbecue for oneself. The property is within walking distance of cafes and restaurants and is quick to get to Tsitsikamma National Park. Highly recommended!

Anette, Sebastian, and Bela – Germany

We loved our stay at Watty so much that we extended an extra night. The location is great for all activities in the area and within walking distance are restaurants, supermarkets, etc. within a few minutes. Watty’s original corrugated iron house is equipped with everything you need and the shower and bed are tops. In the evening we could even make a small campfire and end the day with a cold beer comfortably in the beautiful garden. We felt completely comfortable and Watty was a perfect host with his heartfelt nature. Many thanks and only to be recommended!!!

Tyler, Katie, and Sophie – USA

Very nice host, I recommend! A must in summer with the garden!

Valentin, Olivier, and Amelie – France

I travelled for business and pleasure so I needed a space to be able to work and to use as a base for visiting and exploring. Watty provides both and more. There is a private garden space and a bigger garden area. Easy and convenient parking, within walking distance of food and shops and so comfortable and homely. I watched cricket on full DSTV while working on the Wi-Fi and staring into the garden listening to birds. Amazing!!

Sean – South Africa

A really lovely place and we received a very warm welcome too. A very nice cottage with plenty of facilities.

Great countryside, quiet, and clean place to stay in. Very close to Tsitsikamma National Park. Watty is a lovely host and we had a good time. Thanks, Watty, wifey did the Bungy jump after all – thanks for the motivation. Before coming, the Tin House being cold was a worry in our heads. Obviously, that was not necessary as there was ample heating in the house.

Shrey and Vanya – India

It’s a nice place! Very clean, quiet, and perfectly equipped! And the hosts were very, very nice! Thank you so much for your lovely hospitality! We enjoyed your place so much!

Veronika and Michael – Germany

Lovely place! Thank you for the lovely weekend in your cosy house. We enjoyed it very much!

Hanne, Kirsten, and Astrid – Belgium

We really enjoyed our stay in the Tin House and the area. The house is perfectly located, and some nice restaurants are within walking distance. All kinds of activities can be done in the area. Notice that an entrance fee for the National Park is required, but not for the area where the Tin House is located, which enables you to discover all the nature for free! The bike ride gave us the opportunity to enter the park for free, so that was great! Would definitely recommend staying here. Watty is a great host with loads of local tips!

Sander and Wiehe – Netherlands

What a lovely couple! The place is also just to die for! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay… a walk away from everything that the little town had to offer… and if you’re not sure of what to do or where to go you can be sure that every menu and brochure will be in the house along with recommendations from the hosts! I’m definitely going to rebook should we go back that way again. By far one of our favourite stays! Thank you so, so much for your hospitality and your warm and friendly welcome!
